That's right! I'm starting a new sweater! I decided Alex needed a new, wool sweater for Fall. I was inspired by all the cozy sweaters that Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) wears on the TV show Grimm. They're the comfiest looking Grandpa sweaters and I couldn't see Alex going another Fall without one. I chose the pattern Brownstone by Jonas Flood on Ravelry. (Photo by Brooklyn Tweed.) It's simple enough that it should whip up quickly, it does have short row shaping which makes me a little nervous, but I'm confident that I can conquer it! The yarn I'm using is KnitPicks Wool of the Andes in Indigo Heather. It's a relatively soft 100% Peruvian Highland Wool. It's ridiculously inexpensive (in fact, it's on sale for $1.99 right now!) and I loaded up at their last sale. (I bought enough to make 4 sweaters!) It's a super sturdy yarn too so I'm sure this sweater will keep Alex dry and toasty on his bus commute to school/work this Fall. I started sleeve number one on Monday and I've been cruising along. I'm really enjoying this project. It's a fun, springy yarn to work with and the color is bright and pretty. (Don't worry, he picked out the color of the sweater himself, it has a 100% chance of actual wear.) I should have this sleeve done by the end of the week and sleeve #2 started in no time!
Wish me luck on those short rows! Thanks for reading! -Ashley
