Wanderling Sweater Update (and Snow!)

1/17/2017

It has been a magical week in Portland, Oregon!

We got a record snow fall! Since I absolutely love snow, I have been enjoying every minute of it!

Portland State University has been closed so Alex has been home for the week. We have taken many long, snowy adventures out into the Winter Wonderland! Here is Alex in his new REI coat I got him for Christmas (just in time for this crazy weather!) And obviously, super appropriate footwear, ha!

Here's a shot of the little creek that runs next to our home.

I might have gone a little photo crazy...

Isn't it lovely!?

I hope this isn't our last snowfall this Winter. I've definitely been enjoying our snowy days inside by the fire, watching MST3K and sipping cocoa while I knit my Wanderling sweater.

Speaking of my latest sweater, I've made some pretty nice progress on this puppy;

I finished the body shaping and hem, I decided against adding pockets in order to keep the body shape nice and trim.

I've started on the left sleeve but just realized I don't have the proper sized double pointed needles to finish it! Oh no! I ordered some size 5's so I can get back to work, but in the meantime I'll have to find something else to work on. (I hate loosing momentum!)

Ps. My yarn is KnitPicks Wool of the Andes Sport in Aurora Heather. It's springy and delightful and everything you could ask for in a Classic Peruvian Highland Wool yarn.

So far the fit on this guy is great! The slight A-Line shaping gives it a flattering fit and the color is perfect for my pasty complexion.

I think, after this sweater is done, I will have the confidence to knit my first Adult sweater for my Etsy shop! I'm thinking a Mens basic blue sweater in a Worsted Weight will do nicely. (Maybe with cables? I'm undecided.) I'm looking forward to stepping up my Etsy game.

I'm hoping to have my Wanderling sweater done by the end of the month, it all depends on when my new needles decide to show up! I'll keep you updated!

PPS. Any suggestions on my very first Adult sweater for my Etsy shop would be lovely! What are people looking for in a hand knitted sweater these days? All of my efforts so far have been for family and I would love some outside input.

I hope you've been enjoying this magical snow as much as I have!

Thanks for reading!
