Happy Thanksgiving week!
I've been impatiently waiting to share this wonderful blanket with you! It took me approximately 100 years to make! (6 months!) I created it as a wedding gift for my friends Jen and Josh who got married recently in Las Vegas.
The pattern I used is Twisted Taffy Throw by Julie Hines. It's a free pattern distributed through the Red Heart website. It's an Intermediate level pattern that is well written and easy to follow.
I used Mighty Stitch Super Bulky from KnitPicks which is 80% Acrylic and 20% Superwash Wool. I wanted to make sure a blanket of this size and weight could be tossed in the washer and dryer (especially since they have two stinky doggos!)
I ordered a custom label from a super cute shop on Etsy called Border City Quilts. I emailed them the specific details and they shot me back a mock up in no time. Shipping was quick and inexpensive and the work is top notch. I'd definitely recommend them.
The blanket turned out giant and squishy and wonderful. My only complaint is that it didn't stretch out a lot after the first washing, I almost feel like the cables would be looser and softer if I'd used a size 17 needles instead of 15's. I'm sure it will "bloom" with many more washes over time.
I hope Jen and Josh love their new heirloom and it brings them joy for many years to come!
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
