Hi guys! I hope y'all had a fantastic holiday season! We had a quiet Christmas at home with our kitties. Alex got me a waffle press so I'm pretty sure we'll be having some form of waffles with every meal for the next few months. Heh. I hope you have been knitting your heart out like I have, it has been a busy month! Let's review! I've been working hard on Kecia's Sweater. I finally finished the front and back panel, sewed the shoulder seams and added a ribbed collar. Now all I have to do is create the sleeves and sew the side seams! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I'm still working on my Pennant Socks. I'm doing an afterthought heel for the first time. It's more challenging than I expected! I tried picking up the heel stitches with double pointed needles while using the heel tutorial from Socktacular! but ended up with gaps on either side of the sock heel. I transferred the heel stitches back to magic loop and now I'm using this tutorial from Jane Richmond to guide me on my way. (Ps. you can find this gorgeous yarn bowl HERE. See more Frank Philipps Pottery HERE.) I gave up on my Kiela Mittens. I just kept messing them up over and over again! Then, when I thought they were done, I finished the thumbs and realized I had put them in the wrong places! Whoops. I had too much Christmas knitting to start over on a project with no intended recipient! Sorry mittens!!! I also finished another Thirty Eight Cowl commission. (I love this pattern!) I made this one in KnitPicks Biggo in the colorway Aurora Heather. You can find the pattern HERE. I finished a cute, clay, State themed Christmas ornament commission. And started a baby hat and bootie Commission. Alex and I also hand poured tons of scented soy wax candles for our family members for Christmas; It's been a busy month!!! I've got more awesome stuff coming up soon too! I've gotta finish up my Canvas Commissions. I'm also knitting some yoga socks, starting some felt coasters, and I'll be writing a pattern for this cowl. Whew!
Not even into 2018 yet and I'm already swamped! I'll keep you updated as more projects jump off my needles. Plus I'd like to do a round up of patterns I've got my eye on, especially sweaters! I'll be back soon! Thanks for reading! -Ashley

Christmas won't be the same without the new decorations my grandmother makes and finishes just in time to hang in every corner of our house every Christmas season. We are always excited to see what she will do this year. Every year is different and she never repeats a pattern. She is really very good with knitting. I sometimes think she hailed from a faraway ethnic land in her past life. The only sad thing is she does not know how to teach any of her children to learn the basics of what she does so nobody in the house can also knit.
