Hi friends! Hope you've been staying safe and sane during these trying times. Alex and I have been working extra hard and doing our best to stay healthy and (remotely) connected to our friends and families. I've been taking on lots of commissions, one of which is this beautiful Dragon Wing Cowl; The Dragon Wing Cowl pattern is by Jessie Rayot. I used the German short row shaping on the edges by grenacia on Ravelry. This guy is a pretty easy knit. It's garter all the way through with lots of KFB increases. The most challenging portion is the dropped stitch section, which comes together quite quickly once you get the hang of it. I added about 2" to the straight knitting (neck area) before starting the increases, my final project still ended up being about 28" long in total. The yarn I used is Cascade Luminosa in the colorway Pewter. It's an absolutely dreamy yarn; 52% Viscose, 44% Baby Alpaca, 4% Merino Wool. It's super soft and knits up with a beautiful halo. It is worth noting that Luminosa is a chainette yarn and because of the mostly viscose base it doesn't have a lot of elasticity. I grabbed my buttons from Amazon. I bought 2" buttons and they just barely fit through the chain edge of my cowl. I would suggest 1&3/4" buttons for this project. I love how this project turned out. I would love to make a few for my Etsy shop but due to the price of the fancy yarn and all the buttons they're a little too spendy to make in multiples! This guy is already off to his forever home, hopefully to spread joy for years to come! I'll be back soon to share some more fresh commissions with you! I have a lot of beautiful white, snowy projects on the needles right now. Talk to you soon!
