Fall is finally here! In celebration of colder weather and shorter days I've been planning my Fall wardrobe. I've already busted out my slipper socks and squishy blankets, now it's time for the weather to comply. 82° today? What's that about? I compiled a little list of my top 10 wardrobe "must haves" for Fall. A lot of this is stuff I've had my eye on all Summer, just waiting for October to roll around so I have an excuse to buy it. I know, terrible. It's all budget friendly and most of the items featured here will easily carry over into the Winter weather.
Take a look! Get inspired! #1.) Flannels! Omg, I'm so excited to bust out some Flannel. It's so nostalgic and traditional and I just can't get enough of 'em. Flannel sheets, Flannel shirts, Flannel blankets, I'm a wreck! Ok, Uniqlo binge! These shirts are my favorites right now. This button down is super cute, but I don't think I can pull it off cuz I'm too busty and this guy is really Vintage cute, but my favorite right now is this top, most definitely on my must own list. #2.) Fleece lined clothing. I know! It's too early in the season, you're gonna roast in fleece lined clothing. But I can't help it. I love what I love. These pants from Uniqlo are definitely on my list. I'm an absolute sucker for ANYTHING polka dot. Also, fleece lined leggings from Amazon.com are in my future, I'm a cold person, I need all the fleece I can get! #3.) Faux leather jacket. I am super anti Leather, Suede and Fur but I'm all about alternatives. I actually own a very similiar jacket like this one from ModCloth that Alex got me for Valentines day last year and I love it. It's Polyurethane so it's perfect for mid-weather Portland nonsense. It's not too warm and it's completely waterproof which is perfect for the Pacific Northwest. #4.) Denim. Ok, not gonna lie, I'm really cheap when it comes to jeans. I will order jeans from the most unlikely places if they're inexpensive and come in tiny inseams because I'm super short. I wish I was cool enough to be into the high wasted jeans phase but I seriously just think I'm too short and don't have enough body space to make those puppies look attractive! I'm checking out these light wash skinny jeans from Alloy.com and these distressed skinny jeans, even though they might be a little comically distressed for me. #5.) Leggings/Jeggings. I've had my eye on these Leggings from H&M for a while but they always seem to sell out of my colors before I get around to ordering them. These Old Navy Leggings are my go to, I have two black pairs and I wear them all Fall and Winter with long shirts and sweaters. #6.) Cozy Sweaters. I have SUCH a weakness for Cardigans. I would have a million if I could get away with it. I did a huge closet dump this Spring so I'm on the Cardigan rebound and these guys from ModCloth are calling my name. I could knit some stuff in this guy! And this one is just perfect for drinking tea in. As a rule, I never buy something I could knit for less money than I could buy and I judge Sweaters accordingly. Also, fitted is key, there's a fine line between fitted and frumpy and if all you have on is leggings and a long shirt, a big sweater can make you look like a Blow Pop in no time. #7.) Boots. Wow, this is a long and scary road. Boots are SO tough to shop for. Maybe just for me because I don't do real Suede and I don't do Leather and I don't do "above the knee" and I don't do 5" heels...I'm picky! I want my boots to be reasonable; useful on ice, comfortable, waterproof, and match stuff. These guys from Zappos.com are on my list for Fall. These booties are my bff's, I got them last year and I love 'em like crazy, not super high quality but comfy and fashionable and good quality for the price. #8.) Pajamas. Who doesn't love Fall PJ's? They're just magical. I've been eyeing a couple on Victoria Secret including these cozy dudes, and these Flannel wonders. That's right, back to Flannel, I'm obsessed! #9.) Socks. Oh, wow. I could literally write a Sonnet on socks. I'm a knitter, I can't help it. These socks from Uniqlo are calling my name. Also, if you haven't heard of the brand WigWam you're missing out, they make the best, most squishy socks Ever. I know I'm supposed to wear them hiking but I mostly wear them as slippers. They're squishy and fantastic and I can't get enough of them. #10.) Cowls. This is a touchy spot for me because cowls are So easy and cheap to knit and sew. Why spend money on something that is so easy to make!? But for those who don't have a sewing machine to bust out or the energy/time/money to get a bunch of needles and figure out how to use them, here are my favorites. ModCloth has a bitchin collection including this guy. If you're in the mind for a knitted or crocheted cowl Please get one from Etsy! It's the best way to get something that's handmade and full of love and not a hot mess of acrylic that feels like a scratchy disaster. This Wool one from stickshooksandyarn is affordable and adorable, you could also get something like this from, say, my shop! :D Anyhow, I hope this list has inspired you to spruce up your wardrobe for Fall. I'm always looking for new, awesome places to shop for clothes online, if you have suggestions or recommendations feel free to drop me a line! Thanks for reading! -Ashley
